Students and families can participate in the Community Works program by accessing the Bulletin Board. Here, students can search for job postings and families can create ads requesting services.

Community Works

Community Works (CW) helps families to identify college and graduate students as caregivers for their children and young adults with developmental disabilities. Community Works is funded in part by the MD Developmental Disability Council.

Community Works benefits parents/families by ….

  • -providing a venue to post an ad to request care for their child/young adult
  • -connecting parents/families to students studying in related health and disability fields
  • -helping parents/families to apply for funding for respite and ongoing support services
  • -helping families to navigate local and statewide resources
  • -helping families get the support they need!

Community Works benefits students by….

  • -connecting them to families that care for children with special needs/developmental disabilities
  • -providing students with the opportunity to gain field related experience, and enhance their resume
  • -providing students with opportunities for new experiences and friendships
  • -providing students with the opportunity to earn a competitive wage. Jobs posted on this site pay between $10 – $15 per hour
